I am available to give a lecture on embroidery as an artistic practice, from technical techniques to representatives of the contemporary textile scene.
Topics can vary: hand embroidery techniques; the history of the craft; textile artists working only within embroidery or artists working at the intersection of different mediums; contemporary embroidery in the broadest sense; fashion houses.
I bring personal embroidery samples to the lecture so that the audience has the opportunity to see and touch the texture live. If desired, I also present a selection of books on contemporary embroidery to immerse you in the topic. The lecture can be combined with a masterclass. In addition, I can prepare a handout checklist: what you need to start embroidering on your own, a list of artists, inspirational projects, literature and documentaries.
I have an MA in Art Theory and History (Saint Petersburg Repin Academy of Arts) and I aim to combine academic depth with a lively, accessible conversation about embroidery - as art, practice and form of expression.
